Project introduction:

Styrene-butadiene-Styrene blockcopolymer (SBS) is one kind of thermoplastic elastomer, which is generallyascribed to the so-called “third generation elastomer” in terms of itsintegration of superior properties of both plastic and rubber due to its uniquemolecular architecture. The copolymer exhibits excellent elastic, physical,mechanical and processing properties. SBS can be rapidly and repeatedlyprocessed and molded while retains its elastomeric features.SBS thermoplasticelastomer industrial technology has been licensed to customers at home andabroad, such as Baling Petrochemical, Yanshan Petrochemical, Italy Enichem Companyand British Polydora Company.

Nowadays, this material hasbeen extensively applied in fields such as (1) adhesives & sealants, (2)footwear, (3) polymer modification, (4) bitumen modification for roofing, (5)asphalt modification for pavement, (6) consumer products and others. Thanks toits preeminent physical and mechanical properties, the application fields ofSBS are still expanding rapidly, as a matter of fact, SBS is just becoming avery popular material in all the related industries. In 1988, this technologywas licensed to an Italian client; a SBS plant with capacity of 25,000 t/a wasbuilt with the technology. In 1992, the technology was licensed to a Britishclient; a SBS plant with capacity of 25,000 t/a was set up with the technology.Two domestic commercial plants have been established in SINOPEC, one plant withcapacity of 100,000 t/a is located at Baling and the other with capacity of80,000 t/a located at BYPC.
