In the field of petrochemical industry in China, thesolvent recovery of rubber plants such as BR, SBR, SBS and SIS mostly use thesteam stripping process in which the Consumption of steam account for more thanhalf the total amount of the whole plant and a lot of low temperature heat donot be utilized. Therefore, the Yanshan branch of BRICI developed heat recoverytechnology for synthetic rubber stripping. By absorption heat pump recycling low grade waste heat steam for strippingoperation, the required steam and circulating cooling water were saved, butalso the wastewater emissionswere reduced.

This technology developed in 1997 and then applied inthe SBS plant and BR plant in Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical. The very fineeffect was obtained. At present, this technology has been successfullytransferred to the Sinopec Gaoqiao Petrochemical and applied in the 120 kt BRplant.
